Word.

Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch, which I’ve got to hold up for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.

  1. I did something brave today because of you and your inspiration-y stuff. πŸ™‚

  2. Right freakin’ on.

An acquaintance recently backed out of pursuing a dream, and she told me the reason is that the world is too unstable and she feels it would be unwise to travel (to France, not Syria or anything). All I can think about that is – what’s the point of not being dead if you’re too afraid to LIVE?

Doing shifts paradigms. I’ve found myself caught in mental loops and then I go out into the world and experience something new and feel like a different person. The change is that fundamental.

  3. Now that’s how we do sparklers…

  4. I’ve never quite thought of life in Shaw’s incendiary terms, but three near misses left me advised that metabolism is combustion too. When we feel things shutting down, there’s a powerful incentive inside to resume the challenge, the joy, the splendor of existence, to emerge and to live, how ever simply, to live.

I like the metaphor of light. It resonates with me because I see the human family as an ocean of wicks and we kindle each other’s flames with inspiration, encouragement, faith in one another and love.

But I appreciate, too, the undiluted wisdom of your response. For me, it is another light by which to navigate.
